Automatically turn card id in description into a link
Nick Drabsch
When writing a description for a card it can be somewhat often you want to link to another card in-line in the description.
At the moment this requires you to do something like copy the card title and/or id into the text and then select it and add the url to that card.
It would be much nicer if you could simply do something like #ABC-123 and it automatically links creates a link to that card with a nice in-line view of the cards title.

Convert card numbers to links

It would be great to be able to type a card number into a card (e.g. "See XXX-1234 for additional context around this point") and have it be recognised as a card number and converted to a link to the card. The link could then be removed if not needed.
I often need to link to other cards in order to provide context and have to open up the other card in another browser tab, copy the lengthy URL and then either:
- paste an ugly long URL into the card
- type the ticket number, select the text, then click the link button and paste it into the box.
Where cards have dependencies, I use the dependency fields, but often it's not a dependancy, just a kind of "relates to" relationship.

Pete You can add a card inside a card by adding the card link or card id to find it. This would be the quick option to link cards as the attachment is visible from both sides.

Dovidas Baranauskas Thank you for your reply. I should have mentioned that I'm aware of this. It doesn't really fit with what I'm trying to achieve though. Hopefully the attached gif makes it a bit clearer. The flow in the attached gif is much smoother as you can use natural language rather than typing things like "see the card attached to this card" or "see the second card down in the attached list" or "see XXX-1234 attached" etc.
As I mentioned before, the clumsy workaround is to open the card that I want to link to in another browser tab, copy the URL, type the card number in my card's description, select the text and select the "link" button, paste the URL, then continue typing my description.

Pete: The workaround that is being suggested is a bit different as it is an attachment of another card, which also works by inputting the Card-ID. The suggested option provides the solution but in a different way. Your solution, then, would be a new feature or an improved feature of the current one.

Dovidas Baranauskas Yes, I think the current feature with the large "card within a card" that you showed above is useful, but not always what is desired (I think the last commenter in this thread was thinking the same: https://favro.canny.io/feature-requests/p/automatically-turn-card-id-in-description-into-a-link)
Also, awkwardly, I've just realised that what I'm requesting here has already been asked for in the past: https://favro.canny.io/feature-requests/p/automatically-turn-card-id-in-description-into-a-link
That suggestion accumulated 26 upvotes, so I would imagine this would please a fair number of people.
I can also see how it wouldn't be top of the priority list as it's probably not all that trivial to implement!

Yes please!
