Sheets > Sync With Kanban
John Elpers
If you drag an added card on a board it originated from to a different column and the boards synced to a sheet and that sheet is set to the kanban setting then when you drag a card on board 1 and it was added to board 2 then both should move to the same column name or place/column number from the left.
I manage many boards that many people place cards into, I add all those cards to my sheet as a to-do list. Clicking around and dragging in both locations is cumbersome. If I go into the card the functionality works by clicking on the linked card link under the title, but drag and drop features are the expected UX. If I change the status since the card is syncing with kanban, then the card should move also.
I feel this would be the best UX for sheets.

I think I know what you're on to. Have a look at this: https://favro.canny.io/feature-requests/p/introduce-the-concept-of-containers-see-description-for-details

I have been thinking about this request a lot here recently. I feel a collection snapshot at the top of the collection page would be amazing. If we then had many collections under a "Master Collection" let's say, Marketing and under marketing, there are linked boards like Social Media, Website, and etc. Then that "Snapshot" would show up at the top of that collection bringing in a snapshot of all card information as a whole. I think this would be amazing. That was our project manager who can see EVERYTHING that is going on in all boards. (Our manager is our project manager and things can fall the wayside because the number of different hats we have to wear here) If we had a snapshot view, she could ask about the status in order of whatever filter she applies...
For User Experience, and for weight on your developers, this would be an amazing deal.

Wouldn't it be better if you could add other board's kanban status as columns in a sheet view? I'm not sure I'd like kanban status to sync between different boards. Not by default at least. Or did I miss your point?

Mattias Björkholm:
I agree, "For sure not a default setting." What I am referring to is the ability for cards within a sheet to sync to a different board. If I have 15 boards for 15 different digital marketing tasks. Email marketing, Website, Graphic Design, etc. I add them to my "task list" sheet to consolidate and sort by the next due date. If a card has a group of tasks to complete they are handled in order using timeframe. When I change the kanban dropdown on the sheet, they do not move on the kanban board or other boards. In my organization, The kanban board cards are created by managers etc. Since moving between each board, and we do not have a way to "Work on things in the order they are received/due" it is hard to maintain so many boards without my managers of those areas asking the status. I have to go into each board and manually move them along. If cards were synced with my sheet's kanban board or kanban dropdown, the cards would move along as I clicked the dropdown.
Here is the logic:
If said sheet dropdown selection is changed to "In Progress" for Card 123 on my sheet> Card 123 on its synced board is currently in its To-Do column would also move to "In Progress" as I changed it in my sheet kanban dropdown in my sheet. This is simple logic and should be offered to truthfully sync between boards.
I am willing to explain further but I am not sure how I can explain it further.
What actually needs to happen is a To-do list board that is created for everyone. It can be a template or a hard coded widget area. Any card with your name is added to it. This would be easier to code than editing boards and the purposes of the to-do list board is for doing tasks in order, reporting, filtering your tasks, add or remove wanted columns, etc. You could place REALLY cool filtering and data exports so people can run reporting against the productivity of teams. Based upon custom variables set by their SCRUM Masters.

The Monday Software handles this almost correctly..
They fail at this because of the MASSIVE configuration beforehand it takes and the complexity when configuring the setup!

Thanks for elaborating!
