Minor update on this, there is currently a workaround to show selected date fields, but only on separate boards. Here is the complete help article on how to set that up.

Make it possible to toggle which fields timeline view should consider

If a board/card has multiple timeline fields, there's a probability you don't want the timeline view to be based on all those fields. My suggestion is to list the timeline fields when you click the eye icon. There you would check or uncheck the timeline fields upon which the timeline view would be based.

Brian Graham do you mean this option?

Dovidas Baranauskas: No. I mean to actually hide it in the timeline. For example, If we have a card that has multiple dates added to it for various reasons, we may not necessarily want those dates plotted on a timeline chart, as they are just informational.
Additionally, being able to select what date fields to see in a timeline view would allow us to create different views of the data with different dates as needed.
For example, I could create a View for Engineering deliverable milestones and one on Art...or best case and worst case... Currently, if you add a date to the card, no matter what, it shows in the timeline view. We have one that has 50 items... we added a few informational dates to the cards as well, but now the timeline view has all those informational ones on there as well and its all cluttered up.
